The Ferrari 296

29 March 2023

Let’s talk about the Ferrari 296. The first V6 produced since the Ferrari Dino in 1955. A plug-in hybrid which is somewhat of a mini SF90, the design though is a simpler and sleeker Berlinetta body.

From the front end of the 296 you first notice smaller headlights than the SF90. The inner corner houses a set of small daytime running lights and just below that you can see the front air intakes. The side of the car swoops back, rolling into the rear air intake just on the edge of the 20’’ wheel arches. The larger single exhaust is the central point at the rear, with a Carbon Fibre retractable rear spoiler just above. There are 4 square rear lights with LED light bars above.

Moving on to have look at the interior details it again carries over the simplistic and minimalistic design choice. A tidy and simple dashboard divides the driver and passenger experience. Not to leave the passenger out Ferrari has fitted a passenger display where you can view media options, driver speed, revs and more. The driver however has the large Digital Drivers Display. This shows not only the speed and rev counter, it also displays satellite navigation and multimedia. The steering wheel is simple, with touch-sensitive buttons for navigating the digital display and the engine stop/start. Of course, the famous Ferrari Mannettino is also on the steering wheel, providing various options for the driver being E-Drive, Hybrid, Performance and Qualifying mode.

The engine of the 296 is packed with a 2.9ltr – twin turbo with a single electric motor. A smaller engine than the Ferrari F8 with its 3.9ltr V8 but with more power! The 296 has 840hp with 840 NM Torque and can do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. A top speed of 205 mph and can do up to 50 miles just on the electric motor.

Like the SF90, customers looking to purchase will be given the option to add the Assetto Fiorano package to the 296. This gives different panel options, trim and shock absorbers to the car. Also available with the Assetto pack is a Livery which is a little nod back to the classic Ferrari race cars. Finished off with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R Tyres.

Though compact, they say the best things come in small packages and how can you disagree when it comes to the stunning 296. With the hybrid technology from the SF90 and the punchier engine than the Ferrari F8, this is a car not to be ignored and we don’t think will ever be.
