Ferraris Most Powerful V8
Carrying over racing technology, features and dynamics is what the most powerful V8 Ferrari have produced is all about. The 488 Pista is a huge step forward for Ferraris Special Series Models.
Winning the prize for
International Engine of the Year in 2016 and 2017, we can see why the details integrated
into this engine is so highly regarded. With uncompromised performance the 488
Pista is truly a wonderful car to behold, really showing its prowess on and off
the track even for non-
professional drivers.
With a lighter engine
developed and adapted from the 488 Challenge the Pista weighs a huge 90kg less than
the 488 GTB. Stripping down the interior and filling it with carbon fibre certainly
helped, and with the racing style features added to the exterior which are also
all finished in carbon fibre they were still able to keep the weight down.
The engine itself is
a stunning 711 bhp 3.9 V8 with 567 lb-ft of torque. The top speed is 211 mph with
a 0-60 speed of 2.85 seconds. All of this combines to the meanest sounding
engine yet, with an increase in intensity and quality. When the 488 Pista’s
engine is started up it really roars into action garnering attention from
anyone nearby.
Adopting racing
solutions to the vehicle has massively improved downforce. The F1 inspired S-Duct,
front diffusers (at a ramp angle optimised for the 488 GTE) and the higher and longer rear spoiler all
have contributed to a total 20% increase in downforce compared to the 488 GTB.
