Ferrari's Evolution: Embracing Hybrid Power

27 February 2025

For nearly 80 years, Ferrari has been defined by high-revving petrol engines, delivering unmatched performance and emotion. However, as the world moves toward a greener, more electrified future, Ferrari has embraced hybrid technology and over the past five years, have seamlessly blended electrification with combustion power to enhance efficiency and instant torque—without compromising the thrill of the Prancing Horse.

The shift began in 2019 with the SF90 Stradale, Ferrari’s first plug-in hybrid supercar, producing an astonishing 986 hp through a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors. It's open-top counterpart, the SF90 Spider, followed, offering the same electrified powertrain with added exhilaration.

In 2022, Ferrari introduced the 296 GTB and 296 GTS, marking a return to a V6 engine paired with an electric motor, delivering 819 hp. The 296 further reinforced Ferrari’s commitment to hybridisation while maintaining an engaging, high-revving experience.

Most recently, the SF90 XX Stradale and Spider have pushed performance even further with increased power and track-focused aerodynamics.

As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, what does this mean for Ferrari?

If the brand introduced a fully electric model, would its cutting-edge performance and innovation entice you, or do you believe the soul of Ferrari is inseparable from the roar of a combustion engine?
